How will Louisiana Tech football fare in 2021?

The non-conference schedule features games against two power five teams in NC State and Mississippi and the conference slate has the Bulldogs going to tough places like UAB and Rice. There is a chance for another run at a bowl game, but they are going to have to earn it.

  • Game 1: at Mississippi State (L) — This will be a tough opener for Louisiana Tech due to Mississippi State’s passing offense.
  • Game 2: SE Louisiana (W) — This should be the easy game on the schedule for the Bulldogs.
  • Game 3: SMU (L) — The Mustangs are going to have a powerful offense and will outscore Louisiana Tech.
  • Game 4: North Texas (L) — This will be a close game, but I trust the Mean Green offense more than the Bulldogs.
  • Game 5: at NC State (L) — I think the Wolfpack are underrated heading into 2021 and they will show why in this game.
  • Game 6: at UTEP (W)- The Miners are still one of the worst teams in the conference and I think Tech wins this one big.
  • Game 7: UTSA (L) — Like the Bulldogs, UTSA brings back loads of experience, but the Roadrunners are the better team.
  • Game 8: at Old Dominion (L) — I think this is a toss-up game, but I will give the edge to ODU here.
  • Game 9: at UAB (L) — UAB is among the conference favorites and I trust them way more in this spot.
  • Game 10: Charlotte (W) — I think the Bulldogs’ defense will have improved enough by this point for me to pick them here.
  • Game 11: Southern Miss (L) — Close game, but I think the Golden Eagles get the win.
  • Game 12: at Rice (L) — I think the Owls will have a dynamite defense this season and will win this game at home.

Final Record: 3-9, 2-6 C-USA

I might be lower on the Bulldogs than most this season, but I think they have a lot of question marks and not a lot of convincing answers. I think Holtz will figure things out, but I think that the bowl game streak comes to an end this season.
