College football: 2010s biggest what-ifs: 20. Another team grabs Deshaun Watson

Deshaun Watson is a generational talent. Despite leaving college football without winning the Heisman trophy, he’s proven time and time again how great he is.

Heading into the 2017 NFL Draft, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney warned NFL teams that passing up on Watson would be like passing up on Michael Jordan. That’s mainly because of what Watson was able to do in the 2017 National Championship game against Alabama.

Having come up short one year prior by five points, Watson led Clemson to a last-second four-point win. For Alabama, the chance to win two in a row was immediately flushed down the drain but what would’ve happened if Watson never went to Clemson in the first place? Coming out of Gainesville High School in Florida, Watson fielded several offers, including from Florida, Georgia and Tennessee. Needless to say, his decision was a sagacious one but life in Clemson would’ve been a lot different if he originally chose to take his talents elsewhere.
