How will Howard fare in 2021?

  • Week 1: Richmond (L) — Howard is currently on a nine-game losing streak in games against non-conference opponents with its last win coming against UNLV on Sept. 2 of the 2017 season. This includes a 68-21 loss to the Richmond Spiders in the 2021 season. I don’t see them snapping the streak in this one.
  • Week 2: Maryland (B) — In the Terrapins’ last two games against the Bison, they beat them by a combined score of 131-12 including a 79-0 destruction in their last meeting in August 2019. Don’t expect this game to be much different.
  • Week 3: Hampton (W) — Howard has not won a game against its rival Hampton since 2014. It has since lost four straight against the Pirates. This game will be in Audi Field in their home of Washington D.C. and they will have a very good chance of ending their losing streak.
  • Week 4: Robert Morris (W) — If the Bison lose to Hampton, this will be their next best chance to end their losing streak in non-conference games. In three spring games, Robert Morris was outscored 98-30 allowing 220 rushing yards per game.
  • Week 5: Sacred Heart (L) — Sacred Heart had a dominant run game in the 2021 spring season averaging over 300 rushing yards per game in five games. If Howard is able to stop them on the ground they can pull out the win.
  • Week 6: Morgan State (W) — Howard has beaten the Morgan State Bears three straight times and will make it four straight in their Week 6 matchup.
  • Week 7: Norfolk State (L) — The Norfolk State Spartans are one of the favorites to win the MEAC and will prove why in this game.
  • Week 8: Delaware State (W) — Howard avenges their two spring losses to Delaware State when they meet in week 8.
  • Week 9: South Carolina State (L) — A potential upset as South Carolina State will be playing their first season since All-MEAC receiver De’Montrezz Burroughs, All-MEAC offensive lineman Alex Taylor, All-MEAC defensive lineman Tyrell Goodwin, and former leading rusher Labron Morris who have all graduated.
  • Week 10: North Carolina Central (L) — If Norfolk State doesn’t win the MEAC, it will be North Carolina Central.
  • Week 11: Virginia University of Lynchburg (W) — Virginia University of Lynchburg has only won two of its last 25 games since 2017.

Final record: 5-6, 2-3 MEAC
