Upon disbandment, where should the other Big 12 teams go?
By Austin Lloyd
Kansas Jayhawks
There have recently been claims that Kansas has reached out to the Big Ten in hopes of turning to them following a Big 12 fallout. This, however, seems quite ridiculous.
Kansas could not even muster a win in their current situation, and now the Jayhawks wish to make it that much harder for themselves? Where is the logic in that?
To be brutally honest, the Jayhawks staying at the Power 5 level of competition sounds a little too much like wishful thinking. They never bring in the money, talent, or relevance to stick around with the big dogs. Because of this, they should probably look for a Group of 5 league, as it would generally be much more their speed.
In regards to a fitting combination of Geography and competitiveness, Conference USA would most likely be the best destination for them.
Kansas State Wildcats
Not much has been said about the Wildcats’ plans for the future, but they should have at least something in the holster for when things hit the fan.
Similar to their Sunflower Cup counterparts, K-State brings a limited amount to the table for a conference of the Big Ten’s standards. Meanwhile, they are a tad outside the range of the typical Pac-12 demographic.
If the Big 12 is done for, KSU just might have to sit tight as an Independent for a bit, as they are too big of a team for the Group of 5 lifestyle.
