2. Anthony Brown

It could be difficult to get excited about Anthony Brown as the starting quarterback of the Oregon Ducks fan, but he could get the Ducks to the playoff. Brown is a steady, consistent quarterback who fits offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead’s system well.

Brown is a good athlete who can run when needed despite preferring to stay in the pocket. In Moorhead’s RPO system, he has an All-Pac-12 caliber running back in CJ Verdell to hand the ball off to if he reads run.

The weakness of the Ducks has been the receivers, but this veteran group has some talented, big receivers behind their veterans. Johnny Johnson III and Jaylon Redd are solid, reliable veterans. Expect USC transfer Devon Williams and incoming four-star freshmen Dont’e Thornton and Troy Franklin to see plenty of snaps because of their size.

That list does not include Miami transfer tight end DJ Johnson, Patrick Herbert, and Spencer Webb.

Brown has elite talent around him; all he has to do is get the ball to the playmakers. He, however, has the skills to be more than just a game manager. The Boston College transfer has the arm to push the ball down the field and is surrounded by the most talent in his career.
