Nevada Football: Carson Strong could lead Wolf Pack to Mountain West title
How will Nevada football fare in 2021?
Three of Nevada’s first four games are on the road and there is a chance that this team could start 1-3. If the Wolf Pack can survive the month of September, then the rest of the schedule will set up for this team to make a run to the MWC title.
- Game 1: at California (L) — I want to pick Nevada to win this game very badly because I am not high on Cal this season, but Justin Wilcox is a heck of a defensive coach and will have the Golden Bears ready for Carson Strong and this offense.
- Game 2: Idaho State (W) — This should be a blowout victory for Nevada before some more challenging road games.
- Game 3: at Kansas State (L) — Kansas State has one of the most electrifying players in the country in running back Deuce Vaughn and Manhattan is a tough place to win. Advantage Wildcats.
- Game 4: at Boise State (L) — A potential conference championship preview will be won by the Broncos, who just don’t lose at home often.
- Game 5: New Mexico State (W) — After a string of tough games, the Wolf Pack win an easy one at home.
- Game 6: Hawaii (W) — The Rainbow Warriors are going to be a tough offense to stop, but so are the Wolf Pack and Nevada wins in a fun shootout.
- Game 7: at Fresno State (L) — This is a toss-up game, but I will give the edge to the Bulldogs at home.
- Game 8: UNLV (W) — UNLV is still rebuilding and will have no answer for the Nevada offense.
- Game 9: at San Jose State (W) — This will be a tough game on the road and one that Nevada will need to win if they want to go to the MWC title game and I think they get the win.
- Game 10: at San Diego State (L) — After getting a huge win, I think the Aztecs will get Nevada by surprise on the road.
- Game 11: Air Force (W) — Air Force is a tough and physical team and will be tough to beat, but they won’t be able to match scores with the Nevada offense.
- Game 12: at Colorado State (W) — Wolf Pack end their season with a win on the road vs a tough Rams pass rush.
Final Record: 7-5, 5-3 MWC
I think that this is a record that will disappoint Nevada fans, but having so many tough games on the road will leave the team with little room for error. If they could start the season off with a win versus Cal, that could set the tone for the rest of the season. The big games to circle are the road trips to Boise State and San Jose State.
