Broncos are armed with talent at every level of their offense

Western Michigan has been known to have some high-flying offenses and that was what carried them to the Cotton Bowl in 2016, but this offense might be the most complete the program has ever seen and that’s with the loss of wide receiver Dwayne Eskridge to the NFL.

At quarterback, Kaleb Eleby is back for another season and he is set up to have a phenomenal 2021 season, despite losing his top weapon. Eleby threw for over 1,700 yards and 18 touchdowns, and he only threw two interceptions as well. Eleby has one of the strongest arms in the conference and can really put the ball downfield, he just needs to become more consistent with his accuracy, but all the tools are there for Eleby to have an All-MAC type of season in 2021.

At running back, former Michigan State transfer La’Darius Jefferson took over the starting role in the shortened season a year ago and he made the most of it. Jefferson ran for over 600 yards and averaged nearly six yards per carry last season. Jefferson makes the Broncos a much more complete offense and he should improve from his season a year ago.

At receiver, Western Michigan is going to be missing big-play threat Dwayne Eskridge, who was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks, but they return their other top two targets for Eleby. Skyy Moore and Jaylen Hall form one of the top receiving duos in the conference and Moore was a second-team All-MAC last season. The offensive line is going to return four starters up front and that group includes All-MAC first-team guard Mike Caliendo.

All of the ingredients are there for the Broncos’ offense to be elite once again, despite the loss of their top playmaker.
