New coordinator change hopes to improve Tulane defense

I have talked about the coordinator change on offense that Tulane is going to be going through, but they are also going to be having a change on the defensive side as well. Chris Hampton is going to step in as the defensive coordinator and hope to lead the Tulane defense.

On the defensive line, Jeffrey Johnson is going to be the guy to watch upfront and he is going to be a playmaker on the interior. Tulane is going to be dealing with some massive losses on the edge with guys like Cameron Sample and Patrick Johnson leaving. Look for Carlos Hatcher and Angelo Anderson to be their replacements.

At linebacker, Marvin Moody and Kevin Henry are both back for their COVID years and after posting some good seasons last year, they should be in for some solid play in 2021. Dorian Williams is the team’s leading returning tackler and he will be the leader of the defense.

Nick Anderson had 88 tackles last season as a backup and I think he is in for a big year as well. This is a loaded position for the Green Wave and they will lead the defense.

In the secondary, there are a couple of key transfers that the Green Wave is going to be counting on to make a difference. Lance Robinson, a corner transfer from Kansas State, and Derrion Rakestraw, a safety transfer from Colorado, are expected to start from day one. Joining them will be returning starters, Larry Brooks and Jaylon Monroe.
