After winning two of three to start against Iowa after the move to the Big Ten, the Huskers have lost six straight games to Iowa and many of them have been in heartbreaking fashion.

Frost is 0-3 against Iowa and the three losses have been by a total of 12 points and twice the Huskers have lost on a last-second field goal.

Each year, Nebraska football has proven that it can play with Iowa. And of all the games on the schedule, this is one that the program really needs to win. It would give Frost a feather in his cap and let’s face it: A 6-6 season would still feel disappointing.

Martinez also needs a win in this game. He’s played well against Iowa, except for costly late turnovers and such that have proven to be costly.

If the program is going to take the next step and be competitive in the Big Ten West, it has to beat Wisconsin and Iowa and this year, the opportunity is too good to pass up.

The talent exists on this team to win 7-9 games this year. Receivers Samori Toure, Oliver Martin, Omar Manning, and tight ends Austin Allen, Thomas Fidone, as well as running back Markesse Steep give Martinez plenty of weapons.

The Blackshirts should be much improved too and that will lead to a 7-5 season with a win over the Hawkeyes, which should be enough to cool off Frost’s seat just a little.

Final: Nebraska 30, Iowa 24 (7-5)
