Early schedule is beneficial to new quarterback before season-defining three-game stretch

Kentucky football has a pretty manageable SEC schedule, especially early on, and that will help their new starting QB. Right in the middle of the season however is a three-game stretch against Florida, LSU, and Georgia and that should give an indication of how far this offense has come and if they can pull an upset or not.

  • Game 1: Louisiana Monroe (W)- The Wildcats start off the season with a blowout win over ULM and Terry Bowden.
  • Game 2: Missouri (W)- This game will decide third place in the East and I will give the Wildcats the edge at home.
  • Game 3: UT Chattanooga (W)- The easiest game of the season for UK comes right before they dive into the rest of SEC play.
  • Game 4: At South Carolina (W)- The first road game of the season will be against the rebuilding Gamecocks and Kentucky will get the win.
  • Game 5: Florida (L)- The Wildcats first loss will be at the hands of their rivals
  • Game 6: LSU (L)- I think LSU is in for a bounce-back season and even at home, I can’t pick Kentucky to win against the Tigers.
  • Game 7: At Georgia (L)- Kentucky gave the Dawgs a game in Lexington last season, but don’t expect a repeat performance.
  • Game 8: At Mississippi State (L)- After a much-needed bye week after a tough stretch of games, I think Kentucky will go to Starkville and fall to the Bulldogs.
  • Game 9: Tennessee (W)- Tennessee is in full rebuild mode again and Kentucky picks up a much-needed victory.
  • Game 10: At Vanderbilt (W)- Vanderbilt is another SEC East team in a full rebuild and that plays to Kentucky’s advantage this season.
  • Game 11: New Mexico State (W)- After SEC play, it will be good to have a gimme game like this.
  • Game 12: At Louisville (L)- After a year off, this rivalry is back and I think the Cardinals get the Wildcats at home.

Final Record: 7-5, 4-4 SEC

This record I think is acceptable to Kentucky football fans with the questions on offense a tough stretch of games that all follow each other. Even if the QB exceeds expectations, it is tough to find more than eight wins for the Wildcats against this schedule.
