Stanford football is putting together a solid 2022 recruiting class but it looks much better following the commitment of in-state Kamari Ramsey on Saturday.

Ramsey is a top-200 recruit in the 2022 class and he chose Stanford over a slew of Pac-12 rivals such as UCLA, USC, Arizona State, and also Ohio State.

It was a significant recruiting win for a few reasons as Ramsey is now Stanford football’s top-ranked commitment in 2022 (142nd overall). The 6-foot-1, 195-pound defensive back is also ranked 11th in the state of California for 2022.

Ramsey said it was a 40-year decision and that he decided to commit earlier than he expected so he could help Stanford football add to its 2022 class which is now 24th overall according to the team rankings.

One of the biggest commitments this week in college football recruiting came on Sunday as Maryland football reeled in Shalek Knotts, an explosive prospect ranked 120th overall according to the 247 sports composite rankings.

Knotts committed to Maryland football over Tennessee and North Carolina, among other schools. He also took a visit to Georgia in June and the 6-foot-1, 184-pounder is listed as the 16th-best receiver in the composite rankings.

Landing a four-star recruit isn’t necessarily new for Maryland football. The Terps have landed four top-100 prospects in the last two cycles but recruiting in 2022 hasn’t been going great for Mike Locksley and company.

Knotts is the only four-star commitment for Maryland, which is now 41st overall in 2022. So he’s the cornerstone in this class and a guy with the ability to contribute early for the Terps as they try to gain relevance in the Big Ten.
