The Defense: One of the Best in the Conference?

Yes, the Aggies are replacing team-leading tackler Buddy Johnson as well as team-leading sacker Bobby Brown and that is a tall order. However, they also return a lot of last year’s defense including super seniors Myles Jones, Michael Clemons, and Jayden Peevy.

Texas A&M football has an absolute monster in DeMarvin Leal on the line and have some pretty strong guys on the outside including Leon O’ Neal who is more pumped for the season than anyone I have ever seen. You have guys like Jaylon Jones and Demani Richardson who will easily emerge as big-time defenders this year.

All that considered though, my eyes are on that linebacker room for the Aggies. They look to replace Buddy Johnson and Anthony Hines. However, they have super senior Aaron Hansford who I am extremely high on as well as Andre White and a couple of other guys who could make this unit better than it was a year ago, and that is a tall order when Johnson was one of the better linebackers the Aggies had in a while.

This unit will change the game for many matchups this season, including games like Ole Miss in which the Aggies could quickly find themselves in an offensive shoot-out. The defense could be what the Aggies need to win that one, make a few stops of Matt Corral and his offense, and see where it takes you- likely to a win in my book.
