Ohio State Football: 3 bold predictions vs. Minnesota in 2021 opener

1. Ohio State will win by three touchdowns

This might not be a bold prediction to some, but Ohio State will eventually run away with this game.

This game has the potential to be close early. Minnesota has veterans on offense and an explosive rushing attack and the Buckeyes were not great on defense last season. Ohio State is breaking in a new starting quarterback and some offensive linemen and with the first game being on the road, there is a chance for miscommunication and therefore turnovers.

Minnesota is likely to try to lean on Mohamed Ibrahim and the running game to try and keep the ball out of the hands of the explosive Ohio State offense and that could mean fewer possessions.

Eventually, however, Ohio State will get in a rhythm and it will be too much for the Golden Gophers. The passing attack will be attacking the Golden Gophers’ questionable secondary and that is when the game will break open.

There are few teams that have the capabilities of stopping the Buckeyes offense and Minnesota is not one of them. Ohio State wins big.
