1. Sam Howell throws for 350-plus and starts Heisman campaign

North Carolina might have the best quarterback in the country. That is something that I don’t think has ever been said in Chapel Hill and North Carolina needs to take advantage of what is likely to be Sam Howell’s last season with the Tar Heels.

Howell loves to take shots deep on the defense and I think there are going to be plenty of opportunities to do that Friday night. This is not the vaunted Virginia Tech defenses of the past and their secondary is a bit of a question mark. Howell is going to have to find a new favorite target to throw to, but he is going to have a chance to put up big numbers in his first game.

For Howell to make a Heisman push, he is going to have to guide the Tar Heels to a double-digit win season and make the ACC title game, while putting up consistently good numbers. Look for him to start that Heisman campaign on Friday night against Virginia Tech.
