Coach Beamer is Building a New Culture

Shane Beamer escaped many people’s list of prospective replacements for Muschamp when the position opened. Mainly because of his lack of head coaching experience, but looking deeper into Beamer’s coaching resume, he was more than qualified.

Football is in Beamer’s blood. He grew up as the son of a football coach in Charleston, SC, where his dad was a defensive coach at the Citadel. He followed in his dad’s footsteps and played football at all youth levels and then at the collegiate level.

After his college career came to an end, Shane knew his heart was in coaching the sport. He spent many years mentored by some of the best in the industry. This impressive list includes George O’Leary, Philip Fulmer, Sylvester Croom, Steve Spurrier, Kirby Smart, and Lincoln Riley.

More important than the experience under his belt is the passion in his heart. After the last few years of accepted mediocrity, it is refreshing to have a head coach who wants to be in South Carolina. Beamer was at South Carolina during its best years with Steve Spurrier, so he knows what the program can produce. It is his goal moving forward to build a core team with integrity, talent, loyalty, and passion for the game.

The combination of Beamer’s experience in the field, knowledge of recruiting, and a strong coaching core surrounding him will lead the Gamecocks to fulfill the vision of Shane Beamer for the program. It is a refreshing change for the Gamecocks faithful-there is a reason to be excited about the program and its future.
