It was only two years ago in which Baylor played for the Big 12 title. Now in year two of the Dave Aranda era, the Bears got off to a good start on defense. The Bears created three turnovers and only allowed 235 yards against Texas State.

Aranda was the defensive coordinator at LSU and Wisconsin, so he knows a thing or two about good defense.

The rushing offense was outstanding, as Trestan Ebner and Abram Smith each rushed for over 100 yards. Baylor as a team rushed for 244 yards on 45 carries and added 2 touchdowns.

A major concern would be the 11 penalties for 99 yards that Baylor earned on Saturday night. The Bears cannot be that undisciplined when facing off against opponents within the conference.

Jerry World was the host for a collision between the Big 12 and PAC 12, as Kansas State was able to come away with a 24-7 victory over Stanford.

The Wildcats’ defense was electric, not allowing Stanford to get into the end zone until their final drive of the game. Kansas State was able to generate two interceptions, a forced fumble, and had five sacks on the day.

Penalties were a concern here as well with Kansas State having nine penalties of their own. Another interesting note would be only 4 players caught a pass for Kansas State last Saturday. The passing attack may not match up with the likes of Oklahoma, Iowa State, and Texas Tech.

However, Kansas State doesn’t seem to play that type of style. They are going to focus more on a smothering defense and a mistake-free offense. If they play that brand of football on a consistent basis, you will see them skyrocket up these rankings.

Next Game: vs Southern Illinois
