Many around the country would consider Kirk Ferentz’s counterpart Matt Campbell to be the better football coach, but he has done a remarkable job at Iowa. The Hawkeyes might not always be playoff contenders, but they are a consistently tough team to beat every week and they are always prepared to play.

The thing that Hawkeye fans love about Ferentz is that he is 12-10 against the Cyclones and 4-0 against Campbell. Iowa blew out Iowa State in Campbell’s first season, 42-3, but every game since then has been a thriller. The fact that the Hawkeyes won those games speaks volumes about their ability to perform when it matters.

I think that there is also less pressure on Ferentz and Iowa to win this game. This might be the only chance that Iowa State will have to get to the playoff and there is pressure on Campbell to finally beat Iowa.

I think that Ferentz will give the Hawkeyes an edge and have them ready to play on Saturday.
