3. Miami’s Passing Attack

One area that the App State defense looked suspect on last week vs East Carolina was in the secondary. ECU quarterback Holton Ahlers was inefficient, but still threw for nearly 300 yards, but turnovers doomed the Pirates. I think that one area that Miami is going to try and attack the Mountaineers with is their speed at receiver.

When D’Eriq King had time to throw vs Alabama last week, Miami was able to move the ball at certain times. King looked in rhythm on some throws, but Miami was not able to take the deep shots that are needed to beat a team like the Crimson Tide. This week, I expect Miami to push the ball downfield and get it guys like Mike Harley Jr, Charleston Rambo and, Xavier Restrepo.

Miami’s offense is certainly capable of being better than it was last week against what could be the best defense in the country and I think King and the passing attack will have a big day Saturday night.
