3. Stetson Bennett is a high-quality backup

It was a bit of a surprise for Kirby Smart to start the former walk-on at quarterback and not one of his younger guys, but Bennett IV showed why Smart has so much trust in him as the backup quarterback. He put up stupid good numbers versus a solid UAB defense and finished with 288 yards on 10-of-12 passing with five touchdowns.

Bennett IV looked much better and comfortable than he did last year in the offense.

Offensive coordinator Todd Monken really let him throw it down the field and he hit the talented receivers that the Bulldogs have. Georgia is still missing some of its most important pieces at receiver and tight end, but it did not matter to Bennett IV on Saturday.

At the very least, if JT Daniels is out for any stretch of time, Georgia should feel comfortable having Bennett IV as the backup quarterback. He was the biggest winner on the field for Georgia on Saturday.
