1. Notre Dame is not a top 10 team right now

There is no other way around it. Notre Dame is just not a top 10 team right now. Can the Irish eventually be a top 10 team? Sure, but they need to improve a lot of things on both sides of the ball.

Escaping a tough road environment by a field goal to kick off the year at Florida State is nothing to be upset about, but winning by three at home to Toledo? A team you were favored by more than two touchdowns? As mentioned earlier, that cannot just happen for Notre Dame. Toledo played great and even after the game, Brian Kelly praised Toledo and how they played on the road.

Notre Dame has to improve on the offensive line and also stopping the big plays on defense.

It’s only Week 2, so there is a lot of season left but if the Irish do not improve in some key areas soon they might not be as fortunate to come away with a victory like on Saturday afternoon.

The Irish now have to turn the page and get ready for a hungry Purdue team that will be looking to knock off the in-state opponent in Notre Dame.
