Heisman Candidate No. 4: Matt Corral, OB, Ole Miss

Last season, Matt Corral became a hot name not only as a future NFL quarterback but as a possible Heisman contender in 2021.

Through two games, he has done nothing to dampen those expectations. Last week against Austin Peay, Corral completed 21-of-33 passes for 281 yards and five touchdowns. Corral ran for another 35 and for the season, has 90 rushing yards and a score.

Of course, Corral was expected to put up big numbers against Austin Peay so that performance isn’t really going to move the needle. He was impressive against Louisville and that was a national TV game.

In two outings, he’s passed for 662 yards and six touchdowns. He doesn’t have an interception yet, but to become a serious contender, he’s going to have to slay a giant or two in the SEC.
