Years as current head coach: 4
Record with current school: 14-21
Conference record with current school: 9-18
In 2021: 2-1

After leading UCF to an undefeated season and “claimed” national championship in 2017, Scott Frost was the hot coaching property everyone was talking about.

Why that happened isn’t really clear. Beyond his dream season coaching the Knights, Frost had no real track record as a successful head coach, and certainly not the guy you would think a program like Nebraska, who was trying to reclaim their spot as a national power, would look to.

But that’s exactly what happened, and Frost has turned in mediocre results in Lincoln which has enraged a passionate fanbase, even to the point of some fans wishing for the beleaguered Bo Pelini’s return.

While Nebraska has started off 2021 with a 2-1 record, the opening week loss to Illinois did not bode well for the meat of the season, and the two victories (although convincing wins) were both over opponents — Fordham and Buffalo — that posted little challenge to any Power-5 program.

Three straight years of futility should have been a signal to Nebraska’s AD that the school made a bad choice. 2021 will likely show similar results.

Prediction: Frost may last the year, but likely gone before bowl game bids are sent out
