Michigan State Football: 3 Reasons Spartans will upset Miami

1. Michigan State’s Running Game

The biggest reason that I think Michigan State pulls the upset on Saturday is their running game and specifically Kenneth Walker III. Walker III has had a great start to the season and has been the focal point of the Spartan’s offense through two weeks.

Miami’s run defense has not been terrible to start the season, but as I mentioned earlier, they are going to be down a starting linebacker and that is Miami’s clear weak point on the defense right now.

If Miami’s offense can’t get anything going, then I think Michigan State is going to give Walker III a lot of carries on Saturday so they can try to wear the Hurricanes defense down. Miami’s offense is based on tempo and getting the defense out of position and I think that is going to be tough to do if Michigan State is going to keep the ball.

If Michigan State can rush effectively on Miami Saturday, then I think that will be enough to give the Spartans the upset victory and a 3-0 start to the season.
