2. Seth Henigan will cool off after one of nation’s hottest starts

Memphis has started 18-year-old freshman quarterback Seth Henigan in both games this season and so far he’s delivered for the Tigers. Henigan is ninth in the country for total passing yards through the first two games of the season (682 yards) and is tied for seventh in the country for total touchdown passes (6).

Look for Mississippi State to do their best to shut down wide receiver Calvin Austin III, who has been Henigan’s favorite target this season. Austin has 12 receptions for 286 yards this season, scoring four touchdowns. Expect some physical play on the 162-pound Austin and perhaps even some double teams to ensure Henigan can’t reach one of the best wide receivers in the AAC.

Henigan will get a first-hand education in SEC speed and strength when a powerful Mississippi State defense attempts to rattle the young quarterback out of rhythm early. This Mississippi State defense has recorded five sacks, forced two fumbles, and snatched three interceptions through Week 2.
