1. The return of the White Out

Last season was an odd one for many reasons. It just did not seem like college football with the lack of fans and traditions, even in stadiums that did allow some capacity. This season already feels more normal and with that, we get the return of one of the best traditions in the sport, the Penn State White Out.

Started in 2004 as a student-only White Out and expanded to the full stadium in 2007, it’s simply an amazing atmosphere. This year’s edition against Auburn is extra special as it is only the third time it has been designated for a non-conference game. The other two were Notre Dame in 2007 and Alabama in 2011. Since 2012, the White Out game has alternated between Ohio State and Michigan.

Now Auburn fans will say they know hostile environments. Bryant-Denny Stadium at Alabama. Death Valley in Baton Rouge. The cowbells at Mississippi State. Sure they are all intimidating but they play football in the north, too, and with it comes a sea of white.

A White Out environment is always tough to play in. A White Out after missing out last year is going to be even more insane.

One more stat to leave this discussion with. Auburn’s Bo Nix has a 22-3 touchdown to interception ratio at home. On the road, it is 10-10. The Penn State crowd will make it tough on Nix and the Tigers all night. It will be enough to carry the Nittany Lions over the finish line.
