Best teams to never make CFB Playoffs: 12. Florida, 2020

Now we fully understand, Florida finished the 2020 season not so impressively. With three straight losses, Florida never truly had a chance to get invited to the College Football Playoff. But, they should’ve.

Before you dismiss us completely, listen to our logic.

Alabama was practically impossible to stop all year long. No matter if it was Ohio State, Notre Dame, or even Texas A&M, they were all blown out by double digits. The best defenses in the nation were toyed with and the greatest programs around were laughed off the field. Well, all except for Florida.

The Gators were the only team in the country to lose by single digits to the Crimson Tide, coming up just short in the SEC Championship game, 52-46. Florida also had the best offensive attack in the country, averaging 378.6 passing yards per game.

In the end, losses to Texas A&M, LSU, previously mentioned Alabama, and Oklahoma by 35 points, cost Florida a chance to play in the College Football Playoffs. It may have been the right decision but considering their offense and how much trouble they gave Alabama as opposed to everyone else, it would’ve been interesting if the two locked horns again.
