Big Ten Power Rankings: Penn State notches big SEC win this week
By Dante Pryor
5. Michigan Wolverines 3-0
Have the Michigan Wolverines found their identity? Both running backs, Hassan Haskins and Blake Corum, each have over 45 carries through the first three games. With Ronnie Bell out for the season, the Wolverines are throwing every tight end on the roster in the formation and playing bully ball.
That has worked against Western Michigan, Washington, and Northern Illinois. Rutgers comes to the Big House this weekend. Mark your calendars for Wisconsin on October 2nd. It’s on the road, and the Wolverines have not had success against the Badgers recently.
4. Ohio State 1-0, 2-1
The Buckeyes looked shaky once again, this time against Tulsa. Ohio State went into the locker room with a 13-6 lead and decided to pound the football. TreVeyon Henderson ran for 277 yards, and Master Teague chipped in with 62.
The Buckeyes could use this as a roadmap to open things up on the outside. It has to be concerning; however, the Golden Hurricanes threw for 428 yards against Ohio State. The Buckeyes got just two sacks as well.
3. Iowa Hawkeyes1-0, 3-0
The Hawkeyes put the good old boa constrictor on the Kent State Golden Flashes in their 30-7 win. The strategy was perfect for the game since the Flashes play so fast. Quarterback Spencer Petras threw for over 200 yards (though it took 36 pass attempts).
This week the Hawkeyes host Colorado State before traveling to College Park to take on the Maryland Terrapins. That should be an exciting game because Iowa will have to score some points to keep up with Maryland.
