Big Ten Power Rankings: Penn State notches big SEC win this week
By Dante Pryor
2. Michigan State Spartans1-0, 3-0
The Spartans are playing the way they did when they went to the College Football Playoff back in 2015. That season featured three running backs with over 500 yards. This team might not have three running backs with those types of numbers, but Kenneth Walker III could run for 1,500 yards by himself.
This week, the Spartans get Nebraska. This could be a tricky game after such an outstanding performance against Miami. Though Nebraska lost, the ‘Huskers played well against Oklahoma. The Spartans have to bring their A-game to get the win this weekend.
1. Penn State Nittany Lions 1-0, 3-0
There might not have been a team that had a better weekend than the Nittany Lions. Penn State and Auburn played the year’s game so far, with the home team winning 28-20. The takeaway from this game is Sean Clifford.
Most critics of the Penn State program cite Sean Clifford’s erratic play as a limitation for the Nittany Lions and their chances to play for the Big Ten championship. However, Clifford has shown significant improvement from last season.
Against the Tigers, Clifford just four incompletions, throwing for 280 yards and two touchdowns. For four quarters, Clifford managed the game well and did not go through a streak of multiple incomplete passes.
Sean Clifford playing like this could lead Penn State to the Big Ten title and the Playoff.
