3. Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (3-0)

The Chanticleers continue their winning ways with a win against the Buffalo Bulls. The usual suspects are playing well for the Chants. Quarterback Grayson McCall is off to a great start this season. McCall is playing from the pocket more and running a bit less.

Who could blame him? Isaiah Likely and Jaivon Heiligh are one of the best receiver duos in the country. With CJ Marable gone, Shermari Jones and Reese White is quite the one-two punch in the backfield. The issue for Coastal is the schedule.

Kansas is hardly a quality win, and the Jayhawks are the only Power Five opponent on the schedule. The Chanticleers should come away with the Sun Belt but would need chaos with other Group of Five teams to have a New Year’s Six chance.

2. Cincinnati Bearcats (3-0)

Let’s get this out of the way now; the Bearcats have no chance at the Playoff until they join the Big 12. For better or worse, that is the way things are right now. The Bearcats are a tough, physical, talented team in the driver’s seat for the New Year’s Six.

If both the Bearcats and BYU Cougars run the table, maybe there is an argument for two Group of Five teams to play in the New Year’s Six.

This reason s why Cincy has no shot at the Playoff. The Indiana win is going to lose value as the season wears on. The same might be said of Notre Dame if they lose a game or two. Dillon Gabriel might be out when they play UCF, and they don’t draw Memphis, the only other AAC team with a Power Five win right now.
