Best win: vs. California

It was a bye week for TCU, as it gears up for a very tough four-game stretch. The combined record of the Horned Frogs’ next four opponents is 11-1.

They start off this stretch with the Battle for the Iron Skillet and welcome in a high-powered SMU offense. At the end of this rainbow will be a road game against No. 4 Oklahoma.

A big boost appears to be on the way as defensive end Khari Coleman appears to be returning soon. Coleman had 15 tackles for a loss in 2020 and was an All-American as a freshman.

TCU will have to rely on the experience of Max Duggan and the leadership from Gary Patterson to start knocking off some big names and earn national recognition.

Next Game: vs. SMU

team. 815. . 3-0. Previous: 1st. Sooners . 1

Record in last 5 games: 5-0
Total offense conference rank: No. 2
Total defense conference rank: No. 7
Best win: vs. Nebraska

The Sooners welcomed in a familiar foe, matching up against Nebraska for the first time since 2010. Oklahoma has got off to a great start, but they have not overpowered their FBS counterparts yet. Similar to their in-state counterpart, two of Oklahoma’s three games have been decided by seven points or less.

This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, rather it could be more of a positive as Oklahoma will be ready to handle crunch time situations against a higher caliber opponent.

A lot of these close games also have to do with Oklahoma featuring a more run-heavy offense. The Sooners have run the ball at least 35 times in each game this year.

But, the explosiveness should come back around soon. Marvin Mims has been quiet since his electric first half against Tulane. Watch for his connection with Spencer Rattler to improve as conference play begins.

Next Game: vs. West Virginia
