1. Rutgers at (19) Michigan

A battle of undefeated Big Ten teams takes place at the Big House with Rutgers visiting. The Wolverines have won all but one matchup in the series with the Scarlet Knights winning the first-ever matchup between the schools back in the 2014 season.

Are the Scarlet Knights for real? We are about to find out. Rutgers is not lighting the world on fire with their offense but they are taking care of the ball with zero turnovers this season. The defense is creating turnovers and the Scarlet Knights are second in the nation in turnover margin with a plus-eight. Good things tend to happen when you play mistake-free football.

The Scarlet Knights have beat Temple, Syracuse and Delaware thus far. Michigan is not any of those teams. The Wolverines waltzed through Western Michigan and Northern Illinois pretty easily. Sandwiched in between those games was a win over Washington. The Huskies have a solid defense and the Wolverines put up 31 points on them. Michigan has the top rushing attack in the country, averaging 350 yards a game and posting nearly eight yards per carry.

For Rutgers to have a chance in this game, they must slow down the Michigan ground game and cause enough turnovers to put their offense in a good position. Greg Schiano seems to be building something in New Jersey and this will be a good gauge of where the program is early in his second year.

This game likely will not be a repeat of last year’s thrilling triple overtime Michigan win. But it still should be an entertaining Big Ten matchup.
