Clemson Football: 3 Takeaways from upset loss to NC State
1. Clemson is not a Playoff Team
For the first time since 2014, which was the first year of existence for the college football playoff, the Clemson Tigers are not going to be a part of it. The Tigers seemed like a shoo-in at the beginning of the season, even if you thought they would lose to Georgia.
The issues for Clemson are all on the offensive side of the football and this is going to be the toughest test for Swinney since his first couple of seasons in Death Valley.
It is still possible for the Tigers to win the ACC, as I don’t think NC State is capable of running the table, but it is not out of the question that Clemson loses again. Wake Forest is looking like a really formidable squad and when you are as inept as Clemson seems to be on offense, you can lose to anyone.
This is still a long season and Clemson could flip the switch at any time, but this team is not going to the College Football Playoff for the first time in seven years and that is not something that any college football fan thought they would say just three or four weeks ago.
