Week 4: Defeated Middle Tennessee State 42-39
Charlotte was off to a great start until they met Georgia State on the road and lost by 11 points. The 49ers, however, were able to earn an early-season Power Five win over Duke. Senior quarterback Chris Reynolds is off to a great start this season, accumulating 924 yards and 143 rushing yards while scoring 13 total touchdowns. Charlotte will attempt to get its second win over a Power Five team this week when they take on Illinois (1-4) on the road.

Week 4: Defeated Navy 28-20
The Houston Cougars have won three straight contests after dropping the season opener to Texas Tech by 17 points. Junior quarterback Clayton Tune has taken better care of the football since throwing four interceptions in that opener against Texas Tech, tossing just one pick in the three games since. The Cougars appear to be hitting their stride at just the right time, getting into the meat of their American conference schedule. Houston wants to make a good impression as they exit the Group of Five in favor of joining the Big 12 in a couple of years. Houston travels to Tulsa (1-3) for its second conference game of the season on Oct. 1 at 7:30 p.m. EST on ESPN.

Week 4: Loss to Syracuse 21-24
The Hugh Freeze-led Liberty Flames were mowing over the competition during the first three weeks of play, outscoring their opponents 114-37. However, Syracuse was prepared, holding them to just 21 points in the game (tying a season-low). Syracuse won by kicking a field goal as time expired to give them victory over Liberty, so there won’t be a big penalty for losing at the buzzer to a Power Five team. Liberty will face a tough UAB team (3-1) this week on the road in their brand new stadium.

Week 4: Defeated UConn 24-22
Wyoming was able to eke out a win in the closest game they’ve played all season. The Cowboys are an incredibly balanced team, passing for 750 yards and rushing for 722 yards this season through four games. Wyoming has shown they can win in tough situations, winning by one possession in three out of their first four games. Wyoming will have a bye in Week 5, then take on Air Force (3-1) in a big conference game on Oct. 9.

Week 4: Bye Week
Central Florida didn’t play a game this week but was able to benefit from higher-ranked Group of Five teams losing games this week. The Knights needed this bye week in a big way, they’ll have to do some regrouping after losing starting quarterback Dillon Gabriel to a broken clavicle (out indefinitely) and starting running back Isaiah Bowser to a knee injury (week-to-week). The Knights travel to play a struggling conference opponent in Navy (0-3) this week.
