What’s next for college football’s most unlikely 4-0 teams?

3. Baylor
The Bears have been hot and cold lately, finishing the 2020 season with a 2-7 record and not a lot of optimism for the following year. That’s changed rather quickly, however, with a 31-29 victory against a ranked Iowa State team last Saturday.
Along with a newly minted Top 25 ranking, No. 21 Baylor will go on the road to face a fellow undefeated newly ranked team in No. 19 Oklahoma State on Saturday evening. The Cowboys have struggled to put together consistency on offense, but they’ve found a way to pull out wins against Boise State on the road and Kansas State last weekend at home by relying on running back Jaylen Warren.
Besides its Week 5 showdown in Stillwater, Baylor still has contests against BYU, Texas, and OU later this season — so the jury is still out to see if the Bears can continue their strong play against some of the Big 12’s better teams.
4. Kentucky
The Wildcats beat Missouri and South Carolina to open up 2-0 in SEC play for the first time in three years. Not much was expected of Kentucky before the season began after the team went 5-6 in an SEC-laden schedule from 2020.
Kentucky is an often-overlooked program that has posted double-digit wins only once (2018) since 1977. We can’t say too much definitively about the Wildcats, though, given the upcoming competition. Visits from No. 10 Florida and LSU take place before a road trip to No. 2 Georgia during the next three weeks of action.
