SEC Football Power Rankings, Week 5: Arkansas pushing for top spot
By Shelbie Warr
Missouri struggled this week, falling to Boston College. They fall from spot No. 8 to spot No. 11 for that exact reason. I was a big believer in Missouri and in Connor Bazelak, but they have proven me wrong in a hurry. Now, they face off against Tennessee and I am not even sure who to pick for that matchup. Missouri has the talent, I think, but do they have the ability to make it happen? This week will be important for them to show just that.
Last week went just as I expected for the Volunteers as they fell to Florida, 38-14. It was a closer one than I expected to start, but Florida pulled away and showed that they are absolutely the better team. Tennessee did move up a spot after the closer showing and the fact that Missouri plummeted, but don’t expect too much more movement out of the Volunteers this season. They head to Missouri this weekend, the team they are directly above, so that will figure out a lot for me for sure.
LSU moves up a spot after a close, but successful revenge game in Starkville. I still haven’t bought into the Tigers this season and I don’t really plan on it. They are decent enough to win a couple more games, but they won’t beat Alabama, Ole Miss, Arkansas, or Florida. They may not even beat Auburn who they play this week- despite their struggles with Georgia State. I’m sorry LSU fans, but this isn’t your season. I don’t know what y’all gave up for that magical 2019 run, but this year and last year aren’t going to be a fun time.
