1. Bruins go 4-1

Who would have thought that UCLA would be one of the best teams in college football this season after finishing with a losing record a year ago? Probably no one outside of Los Angeles, honestly.

The Bruins did lose each of their games last season by one score so there was optimism for some improvement, but no one could have expected this hot of a start, jumping into the AP Top 25 after a big win over LSU.

Now the Bruins are entering a crucial month of October with four matchups against teams that have been ranked this season at some point and five contests in a loaded slate. It’s going to be a prove-it month for the Bruins.

Chip Kelly will have his guys prepared to kick off the month with a win over Arizona State at the Rose Bowl and they’ll dominate Arizona in Tucson the following week. A road game against Washington will be tough, but I think the Bruins will be able to eke out a win there. They’ll lose a close one against Oregon before ending the month with a win against Utah on the road.

Overall, a 4-1 month with three road games is impressive.
