Breece Hall is showing that he is once again a legitimate Heisman contender. Hall finished this past week’s game with 243 yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns on 33 touches.

Unfortunately, all that work was not good enough to help Iowa State pull off a victory against Baylor. Iowa State’s defense gave up 30-plus points for the first time since early November of 2020 (also against Baylor).

It didn’t help that the Cyclones had two blocked punts, which resulted in 10 points for the Bears. After two early losses, Iowa State now finds itself in the middle of the pack despite a great defense and an outstanding running back.

The identity of TCU has seemingly shifted with this edition of Gary Patterson’s squad. TCU’s defense has not been nearly as physically imposing as they were in prior years. This has been evident based off back to back games allowing over 30 points.

Against SMU was especially rough, as the Mustangs put up 595 yards of total offense. The Horned Frogs did get three turnovers, but only managed to get three points off these turnovers.

Max Duggan has had a strong start to the season with 9 total touchdowns to just two interceptions. Zach Evans continues to push his case for being the 2nd best running back in the conference with back-to-back 100-yard games.

TCU needs their defense to step up with a game looming against an offense that exploded for 70 points last week.

Next Game: vs. Texas
