3. Drew Pyne deserves to start

Drew Pyne has earned the right to start next week against Virginia Tech. Will he get that opportunity? Time will tell, but the offense looked the best when he was on the field.

Pyne took over last week when Coan got injured and helped lead the Irish against Wisconsin, then today put Notre Dame at least in range for a potential comeback against Cincinnati.

Another factor for Drew Pyne earning a start is because he gives the Irish offense more mobility as a unit. Coan is the more accurate passer, but cannot get out and avoid pressure like Pyne can when the pocket collapses.

Freshman Tyler Buchner may be the future for Notre Dame at quarterback but is just not ready yet. Give Pyne a shot and let’s see what he can do when given a chance from the opening kickoff.
