Boise State football has been a Group of Five powerhouses for years now and they still are. Their 2-3 start to the 2021 college football season is a misleading indicator of how good this team actually is on the field.
Boise State has been alternating wins and losses each week, making it tough to get any moment going.
Boise State dropped the season opener to UCF 31-36 on the road. In Week 3, they lost at home to Oklahoma State by one point. Most recently, they lost to a surging Nevada Wolf Pack team by 10 at home.
The Boise State football team has been within striking distance in all three of their losses this season. Now would be a great time to show the rest of the Group of Five teams just how good they are when they take on No. 10 BYU on the road on Oct. 9 on ABC at 3:30 PM ET.
No. 1 Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (2-3), Group of Five Conference: C-USA
The Louisiana Tech football team tops this list of teams that are better than their record indicates. LA Tech nearly pulled of an upset of Mississippi State in Week 1, losing by just a point on the road.
In Week 3, the Bulldogs gave now-ranked SMU all they could handle, losing 37-39. It’s the closest anyone has gotten to beating the red-hot Mustangs.
Most recently, in Week 5, Louisiana Tech lost to undefeated No. 23 NC State 27-34— a one-possession game.
The Bulldogs are right there in every game they’ve lost. A big reason why they are being competitive in these games is because of senior QB Austin Kendall, who’s thrown 1,178 passing yards this season to go along with 10 touchdowns. He’s also rushed for 169 yards and 3 touchdowns this season.
