. . Previous: 16th. Demon Deacons . 12. team. 889

Defeated: Old Dominion (42-10), Norfolk State (41-16), Florida State (35-14), at Virginia (37-17), Louisville (37-34)
Strength of Schedule: 64th
Road Victories: 1
Wins vs. Power 5 teams: 3
Victories vs. current ranked opponents: 0
Ranked in AP Poll: No. 19
College Bowl Projections: Bonagura: PlayStation Fiesta Bowl; Schlabach: Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl
Week 5 result: Wake Forest 37 Louisville 34
Next opponent: at Syracuse

Wake Forest’s offense has been amazing putting up at minimum of 35 points per game. Their defense through their first four games gave up 17 or fewer points and has been solid. The Demon Deacons struggled defensively however against Louisville they found a way to win and remain undefeated.

They are projected by ESPN’s two bowl experts to play in a New Year’s Six bowl game and their remaining schedule is very favorable with their next three games should result in fairly easy wins. The Demon Deacons should defeat Syracuse to remain undefeated at 6-0.

Week 6 prediction: Wake Forest 49, Syracuse 23

5-0. Previous: 11th. Cougars . 11. team. 861.

Defeated: Arizona (24-16), Utah (26-17), Arizona State (27-17), USF (35-27), at Utah State (34-20)
Strength of Schedule: 72nd
Road Victories: 1
Wins vs. Power 5 teams: 3
Victories vs. current ranked opponents: 1
Ranked in AP Poll: No. 10
College Bowl Projections: Bonagura: Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl; Schlabach: Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl
Week 5 result: BYU 34 Utah State 20
Next opponent: Boise State

On paper, the Cougars’ first three wins were very impressive. However, their somewhat close win against Arizona doesn’t look as good as the Wildcats are winless at 0-4 with a loss to an FCS school. The victory against Utah looked great as the Utes were ranked at the time they played but Utah has struggled of late.

BYU’s best win looks like it is against Arizona State who is 4-1 and now ranked in the Top 25. The Cougars, after defeating all three Pac-12 schools they faced, easily defeated USF at home and they won their only road game with a nice win over Utah State.

If BYU wins its next four games, that will put it in the conversation for the College Football Playoff. But until then, the Cougars just need to keep winning football games.

Week 6 prediction: BYU 28, Boise State 27
