1. Kyren Williams finally reaches 100 yards rushing

This year has been a struggle getting to 100 yards so far for the talented Notre Dame running back. In 2021 so far this year through five games Kyren Williams has run for 42, 78, 91, 33, and 45 yards.

Williams came close against Purdue a few weeks ago, rushing for 91 yards, but just has not quite broken the 100-yard mark yet this season. Through five games last year in 2020 he already had three games rushing for over 100 yards, and six times altogether last season.

The offensive line this year is a lot different with multiple linemen moving on to the NFL. There also have been revolving doors on the offensive line unfortunately due to multiple injuries so far this year which takes a toll on the running game.

According to the stats on the NCAA website, Virginia Tech is rated as the 61st best defense in the country defending the run. The Hokies are giving up 4.02 yards per carry and 135.8 yards per game on the ground. Williams had success running against a Boilermaker defense which currently ranks 47th.

Saturday is finally the night that the offensive line plays its most complete game as a unit and that will be key in the running game with getting Williams over 100 rushing yards. With Williams’ NIL deals, maybe he will treat the offensive lineman for ice cream back in South Bend.

Notre Dame rebounds after a crucial loss and goes on the road and secures a win at Virginia Tech. It will not be easy, but the Irish will take a win however they can get it.

Prediction: Notre Dame 31, Virginia Tech 28
