3. Penn State has the better quarterback

We have seen it time and again in big college football games, whoever gets better quarterback play usually wins the game. Sean Clifford is a guy that has endured a lot of criticism during his time at Penn State, but he has made great strides this season. Penn State has a dangerous downfield passing attack this season and that is an advantage that they have.

Spencer Petras is not the worst quarterback in the Big Ten, but to say that he makes Iowa a threat is incorrect. This is the one thing that could hold Iowa back from being a true playoff contender. Consistent quarterback play could elevate the Hawkeyes and Petras is going to have to raise his game.

Clifford gives the Nittany Lions the advantage on the road at the most important position in the game. This is something that will be key in this game.
