Iowa Football: 3 takeaways from another huge win for Hawkeyes
Iowa is due for another run
A few weeks ago when Iowa football beat Iowa State, we talked about the greatness of Kirk Ferentz. In addition to being great, the man is also consistent.
So consistent that we should have seen this impressive start coming for the Hawkeyes.
Back in 2009, Iowa put together an 11-2 season that included a trip to the Orange Bowl and a victory over Georgia Tech. Then, in 2015, Iowa started 12-0 before losing in the Big Ten championship game and the Rose Bowl.
Six years later, Iowa is at it again. And it should be favored in every regular-season game left. Winning at Wisconsin won’t be easy but Penn State and Michigan both did it.
The other big obstacle is winning at Nebraska and let’s be honest: The Hawkeyes own the Huskers, so until Scott Frost proves he can do it, Iowa fans have plenty of reason to be confident, although history tells us it will be close — close — still an Iowa win.
At the very least, Iowa should be back in the New Year’s Six and as long as it keeps winning, it will play in the College Football Playoff.
