8. Maryland Terrapins (4-2, 1-2)

This month has not gone well for the Maryland Terrapins. Maryland has gotten wholly dominated over the last couple of weeks by the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Mike Locksley knows how far he has to go in year two at Maryland.

The Terrapins caught both the Hawkeyes and the Buckeyes as they are finding their stride. Dontay Demus’ injury does not help matters for the Terps. Taulia Tagovailoa also needs to stop throwing to the wrong jersey as well. The schedule is tricky for Maryland as they need two more wins to get to the bowl season.

7. Minnesota Golden Gophers (3-2, 1-1)

The Gophers have been ravaged by injuries this season. First, wide receiver Chris Autman-Bell has been dealing with injuries all season, which has limited him. Second, Mohammed Ibrahim was lost for the season during the Ohio State game.

Ibrahim’s backup, Treyson Potts, had played well, but now he is out for the season with an undisclosed injury that is possibly career-threatening. Leaning on the running game has kept the Gophers competitive. As the Gophers get ready for Nebraska, how are the Gophers going to score points?

6. Nebraska Cornhuskers (3-4, 1-3)

The Cornhuskers have had the worst fortunes in their close games this season. However, it seems that those who were ready to bury Scott Frost and fire Nebraska’s favorite son were wrong. Despite not getting to the pay window three of the last four games, the Huskers are playing better football.

Quarterback Adrian Martinez has stayed healthy and has taken a leap forward in his progression. Frost has given Martinez many responsibilities in the offense, and the junior from Fresno has responded in kind, leading the Cornhuskers in passing and rushing. Maybe the Huskers get to the pay window this week against Minnesota.
