5. Alabama (5-1)

Wow. Just wow. I’m speechless. I cannot believe Alabama actually lost to Texas A&M on Saturday night and I’m still processing that game. There is nothing that could’ve predicted that upset. There is no data or stats that would ever back up A&M pulling off that upset. I really think that was one of the biggest college football upsets in recent memory. That doesn’t just happen to Nick Saban and Alabama who had a 100 game winning streak against non ranked opponents.

They were completely outplayed by A&M in the first half and came up just short in a comeback effort. The Crimson Tide defense was picked apart and exploited by Zach Calzada who is the last person you’d expect to do that.

I personally still think Alabama is the second-best team in the country but they just had an awful game defensively allowing 41 points. This one was truly an enigma but it could cost the Tide their playoff hopes as they’ll now have to win out and beat Georgia in the SEC title game if they want to make it in.

Next game: vs. Mississippi State
My prediction: Win 41-20

6. Ohio State (5-1)

After a rough few weeks to start this season, this Ohio State team has emerged as one of the top offenses in America. I’ll actually make a claim right now that Ohio State has the best offense in the country. That’s how good and efficient this team has been the past three weeks averaging 59 points a game in that span. I’m still not even sold on their quarterback situation and that just says even more about the rest of their offensive weapons.

The defense has shown a lot of improvement too which is a great sign for the Buckeyes going forward. If they can keep getting better on that side of the ball, they will be tough to beat the rest of the season and could still end up being Big Ten favorites over Iowa.

Next game: Bye
