1. Takeaways for Iowa

The loss for the Hawkeyes put them in a three-way tie for first in the Big Ten West. Quite frankly, Iowa was exposed. Spencer Petras was a limiting factor at quarterback last season and he was once again today.

One issue Iowa has had this season is its inability to get out off the blocks. The Hawkeyes have been outscored 41-29 in the first quarter this season, including scoring just six points in the first quarter in their last three games.

Iowa does control its fate in the Big Ten West. Purdue has the tiebreaker, but Iowa has yet to play Minnesota.

2. Takeaways for Purdue

Purdue was considered a mid-tier Big Ten team, but now the Boilermakers find themselves in a three-way tie for first place in the Big Ten West.

Does that mean they are legit contenders? In a season where Wisconsin has struggled and Minnesota has lost their entire running back room, yes they are.

Will they win the Big Ten West? Most likely they will not. The Boilermakers still have to play Ohio State and Michigan State from the Eastern division. However, this was a great win for coach Brohm and the Boilermakers.
