Oklahoma Football: 5 Possible transfer destinations for Spencer Rattler
By Dante Pryor
1. Arizona State Sun Devils
The Sun Devils top this list because Rattler is a Phoenix native, and Arizona State is in Tempe, a suburb of Phoenix. Rattler might like going back home and playing in front of friends and family next season.
Also, it just so happens that the Sun Devils could have an opening at quarterback if current quarterback Jayden Daniels decides to forgo his last year of eligibility and enter the NFL draft at the end of this season.
Rattler was a preseason Heisman favorite and one many thought could become the first overall pick in the NFL draft. Rattler’s season has not gone the way anyone, including Rattler, thought that it would go.
One attractive aspect of transferring to Arizona State other than going back home is Arizona State’s pro-style type offense. Rattler, showing he has command of an NFL-style offense, could rebuild and rehabilitate his draft stock in a season.
This season, thinking about the draft would be a huge mistake, given how he’s played this year. Rattler does not lack confidence, but entering the draft this season would not be confidence but pure hubris.
If Rattler does decide to leave Norman, it should not be for the NFL.
