Dishonorable Mentions

Quick Note: I wanted to put both Oklahoma State and Oregon on this list. Both are top 10 teams, however, both are underdogs this weekend: the Cowboys are a touchdown dog to Iowa State while UCLA is favored by two against Oregon.

5. FAU (at Charlotte): This is a rare line that I don’t understand. FAU’s been decent this season at 3-3, but have yet to beat anyone notable. When playing better teams, they’ve lost to Florida, Air Force and UAB by a combined score of 97-35. Charlotte, on the other hand, has two losses: an admittedly bad loss to Georgia State and a tough game against Illinois. They hold a win over Duke, showing they can beat teams that are better. As long as Charlotte can slow down N’Kosi Perry, they have a good shot to win.

4. Wake Forest (vs. Army): Another week, another Power Five opponent at risk against Army. We all know how good Army’s triple option offense is, but last week they had a rough go of it against Wisconsin, only running for 179 yards. Wake Forest is nowhere near as good at stopping the run as Wisconsin is, so the Knights should have no problem against the Demon Deacon defense. How many stops can the Army defense get?

3. Houston (vs. East Carolina): Something about this game is telling me Houston might be in trouble, but I cant quite put my finger on it. The Pirates will need points to keep up with Houston, which will be tough against a good Houston defense. Holton Althers is a big key for East Carolina. Can he have success against one of the better secondaries he’s  faced this year? Don’t let the Pirates’ .500 record fool you: two of them are by a combined seven points to South Carolina and UCF.
