Welcome back to the watch, where we attempt to find the one team to represent the Group of Five in the New Year’s Six. This season, however, there might be one who finally makes the College Football Playoff. Can the Bearcats make it to the playoff?

More on the Bearcats a bit later. The BYU Cougars lost their second straight game, falling to the Baylor Bears this weekend 38-24, ending their bid at a New Year’s Six Bowl. So their Watch has ended.  There is also a new member of the Watch, the UTSA Road Runners.

The Roadrunners have been one of the best teams in the Group of Five this season, with wins against Illinois and Memphis.

Back to Cincinnati. Can they crack the initial College Football Playoff rankings? The Bearcats are ranked second in the Associated Press and third in the Coaches Poll. The opportunity is there. There are two questions the committee has to answer moving forward the rest of the season.

Who is left out if the Bearcats stay in the top four the rest of the season? Will the Bearcats have the resume to stay in the top four the entire season? If Cincy makes the playoff, does that mean another Group of Five plays in the New Year’s Six?

So many Group of Five questions. Prepare, New Year’s is coming.
