2. Jeff Traylor — UTSA head coach

If Texas Tech football is going to be successful, it needs to find someone who can recruit the state of Texas and that’s why Jeff Traylor, the head coach of the University of Texas at San Antonio would be a great hire for the Red Raiders.

Not only does he has experience as a head coach in the FBS but he has also shown the ability to build a program. He’s got the Roadrunners sitting at 7-0 right now in his second year on the job. In two seasons, UTSA is 15-5 and 9-2 in conference play.

That’s one reason to like him but another is that before he got into the college coaching ranks, he was a high school head coach in Texas.

Recruiting is all about building relationships and the Red Raiders are going to have to be able to do that and find some diamonds in the rough.

Traylor has also coached at Texas, SMU, and Arkansas. It makes a lot of sense but it comes down to whether Texas Tech can attract him for the job.
